Community Forums to Discuss Academic Program Development in HSD
In the spring of 2016, school leaders and District staff fielded concerns from several parents of middle and high school students about advanced course offerings and overall rigor and differentiation in our high school classes. In response, staff put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions and created a plan for gathering input from teachers, students and parents throughout the remainder of the year.
The first step of a three-part process for making changes to our academic programs and course offerings in 2017-18 will be to hold forums where students, staff, parents and community partners can share their beliefs and values about what students deserve from their school experience in Hillsboro School District. These will occur at staff meetings, in classes, and at evening sessions during the month of September.
District-sponsored sessions for parents and community members will occur as follows:

There will be more public forums in the winter to gather feedback on proposed changes to the high school course catalog as well as forecasting protocols for students to access classes of their choice.
