Children must be five years old by September 1, 2017, to enroll for the
2017-18 school year. Register at your "home" school using the
as soon as possible. Doing so helps schools ensure they have the staff
in place to welcome and support your child through a positive and
rewarding experience. To confirm your assigned home school of
attendance, please call Transportation at 503.844.1123.
Guidelines for early entry into kindergarten
NOTE: Requests for kindergarten transfers
(to attend a school other than your home school) will be considered in
August, subject to space availability. Your student must be registered
at their home school before submitting a transfer application.
The decision to send children to kindergarten is an important one. Real learning happens in kindergarten and is a foundation for students' entire educational experience. Watch the following public service announcements to learn more about how to register your child:

Full-Day Kindergarten Began 2015-16
In their 2011 session, Oregon legislators passed Senate Bill 248, which opened the door for school districts to offer full-day kindergarten beginning with the 2015-16 school year. A high-quality, full-day program has been proven to be best practice for preparing children for their educational future, helping them develop the necessary skills and habits of successful learners. Previously, schools were only funded to offer half-day kindergarten programs to students. With Title I federal funding, we were able to offer extended days at seven elementary schools; however, these were not true full-day programs. With the state's authorization, we may now offer full-day kindergarten at all of our schools.
Plan to attend one of the Fairs in addition to the orientation at your child's school.
