The State of Oregon requires that children be 5 years old by September 1, 2014, to enroll in kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year. Contact your school of residence for registration information and records and materials needed to register. If you do not know your assigned school, please contact the Transportation Department at 503-844-1123.
Kindergarten Schedule and Placements
Kindergartners in the Hillsboro School District attend school for a half-day, either morning or afternoon schedule, Monday through Friday. The morning session will start at the same time as classes for Grades 1-6. The afternoon session will end at the same time as Grades 1-6.
For Groner, Farmington View, North Plains and West Union schools, the Transportation Department will determine your child’s placement in the morning or afternoon session in order to keep bus rides as short as possible. For all other schools, the school principal will determine your child’s placement based on a balance of class size, gender and specific learning needs.
Early Entry Process
The State has established procedures for individual school districts to allow limited opportunity for early entry of students born September 2 through September 30.
