General Athletic/Activity Requirements

Participating in school-approved athletics is a privilege that involves certain additional responsibilities. All student athletes are expected to conform to the following regulations if they choose to participate as a member of a Century athletic team. Athletic and activity participants must meet Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) and District behavioral and academic standards. Refer to the Standards of Student Conduct for current standards.

All Athletes Must Have Student Body Cards With an ASB Sticker

Academic

  1. Must have passed 2.5 credits in their previous school semester and be passing 3.0 credit classes during the current semester. Must have OSAA eligibility.
  2. Be in attendance at school for at least half their class load before being allowed to practice or compete on that day. Truancy automatically excludes a student from athletic participation.
  3. A student who becomes 19 years old before August 19 shall be ineligible.

Medical

Must pass an athletic medical examination prior the first official practice as a freshman and a junior or in their first and third year in the athletic program.

Insurance

Students must show proof of medical insurance prior to athletic participation. The school district makes available a student insurance program through an independent insurance carrier. This is not required; it is a matter for each family to decide. Some form of insurance must cover students who take part in the athletic program. Copies of a brochure describing the program are mailed to parents. This policy provides limited coverage for confirmed school-related accidents, and it is important for students and parents to understand that the school does not provide accidental injury insurance for students.

Travel

All students are required to travel to and from all athletic contests in school-approved vehicles. Deviations from the above require prior approval by the coach, athletic director or principal.

Conduct

  1. Athletes will conduct themselves in a manner, which brings credit to their team, and their school.
  2. Athletes will abide by published training standards, which prohibit the use of alcohol, tobacco (any form), and narcotics.
  3. Athletes will dress and appear as stipulated by the coach of each sport.
  4. Athletes will abide by published expectations distributed by each coach.

Activity Conflicts:

Equipment & Clothing

  1. All athletic clothing/equipment is the property of the school district.
  2. Athletic clothing is to be worn only when directed by the coach.

FUND-RAISING

Student fund-raising activities shall be approved by the principal and shall be for the purpose of maintaining or adding to the educational function of the activity. All outside school fund-raising shall be approved by the superintendent who shall insure Districtwide coordination. All monies raised by school activities shall be processed through the proper books of the district.
