View's Flying Penguins Place Third at State Tournament
After placing first in the LEGO Robotics qualifying tournament, Farmington
View’s The Flying Penguins team captured the third place young team trophy at
the LEGO Robotics State Tournament in January. Congratulations to team members
Quinn C, Jonathan A, Matthew A, Laurel S, Braden F, Eve P, Makenna G and their
coaches Cory Cox and Terry Alexander. Four teams totaling 25 students
participated in LEGO Robotics this year thanks to the involvement and leadership
of our parents. We would like to congratulate the teams for their excellent
performance and thank the coaches, mentors and parents for their strong support.
Next year's LEGO Robotics teams will be formed this spring. If your child is
interested in participating, please call the school for more information. |

Fifteen 5th and 6th grade finalists competed in our school-wide Geography Bee on

6th grade class, beat out the compelling other top finalists, Brooke R in Ms
McCoy's 5th/6th grade class and Sheila L in Mr. Fast's class. Glen will
take a qualifying test for the state competition, which is held in April. State
champions will compete at the national championship in Washington, D.C. for a

Four
Farmington View Teams Compete in Regional Qualifying Tournaments
Farmington View’s four LEGO Robotics Teams performed extremely well at the FIRST
LEGO League Oregon Tournament 2009 held over two weekends in December.
The Flying Penguins were awarded the first place Champions Trophy and will
represent Farmington View at the state tournament. The Flying Basket of Candy
Bars posted very high scores in the table competition. Our rookie team,
The Hover Squad did an exceptional job in their first year for both students
and coaches. The team received the Robot Performance Trophy as did The
Mythical Mechanical Creatures, our all girls team. Congratulations to all of
the teams and their coaches for a job well done. ON TO STATE! |
