Faust
Portland Opera will perform Charles Gounod's Faust on November 4, 2006. This is a Student Dress Rehearsal performance. Students will travel by school bus from Hillsboro to Portland to have dinner at the Berlin Inn and then on to the Keller Auditorium for the performance. We will depart promptly at 4:00pm and return to Hillsboro around 11:00pm.

This opera will be sung in French with projected English translations above the stage. The performance, which begins at 7:00pm, will last approximately three hours including intermission. For a plot synopsis, information about the composer, the cast, and samples of music, look at the Faust page on the Portland Opera website.

This field trip is meant to be a fun but classy outing. Everyone is expected to dress and behave appropriately. Good table manners are a must. Girls should wear a nice blouse with a skirt or pants; and boys should wear a collared shirt with slacks. A nice sweater or tie is always acceptable.

I am always in need of chaperones; so if you have a parent, guardian, or an older family member who would like to participate on this field trip, please have them contact me.

Opera admission tickets are $10.00 and $12.00 for students and adults respectively. Transportation cost will depend on how many people participate. The more who attend, the lower the individual cost. Your meal expenditure will depend on what you order. I suggest you look at the online menu of the Berlin Inn and see what you might like to order. The House Favorites menu has lower prices than the Dinner menu. Don't forget to add an extra 20% gratuity to your total restaurant bill.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Thursday, October 15, 2006 at 4:00pm.

WARNING: There will be NO refunds after October 15, 2006. Portland Opera does not refund any money for purchased tickets. Also, refunds will NOT be given for transportation costs. This is to keep the price consistent and fair for all of the participants.

**Portland Opera usually offers a special deal for students and senior citizens for all opera performances. If you are a full-time student (high school or 12+ college credits per semester) or are at least 62 years old, you may purchase a regular ticket for $10.00 one hour before a performance begins.
