Typing German Letters and Symbols
These are the codes for typing German letters on IBM compatible computers.
alt 142 = Ä
alt 132 = ä
alt 153 = Ö
alt 148 = ö
alt 154 = Ü
alt 129 = ü
alt 225 = ß
alt 130 = é
alt 0128 = € (This is the symbol for the euro, the
European Union's currency
. It is used like the U.S. dollar sign $. For example, a television which costs 500 euros would have a price tag of 500€. Germany is currently a member of the E.U. The E.U. has 13 members who also use the euro.)
If you are not able to make these letters on your computer or typewriter, all you have to do is add the letter "e" after the vowel which you would like to umlaut. For example, ä is also ae. For the ß, just use ss.
