Health Focused Program of Study
The Health Services Focused Program of Study is a course which explores the Health Profession.
In the health Foundation courses students learn the wellness concept by understanding the impact of physical, social and mental health on our wellness. In addition, they are introduced to the anatomy and physiology of major body systems.
As a senior, the students take Fitness Training and Sports Medicine which gives them the opportunity to learn medical abbreviations, body planes, kinesiology terms, reference terms, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology of the skeletal, muscular, and cardiorespiratory systems. In conjunction with the major topics we discuss post secondary education, career planning and exploration. Students have hands on opportunities through career highlights, service learning, cadaver lab, exercise physiology lab, guest speakers, and an internship in the health field.
The Health Service focused program will help prepare you for post secondary education in the health field.
