Hilhi Weather Station now Part of UrbaNet

Hillsboro High School has been chosen to be a weather reporting station for the UrbaNet meteorological program. This program is a product of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and private enterprise. It seeks to develop an extensive data base of weather data in urban areas in order to improve weather forecasts in these areas. The Portland urban area has just been added to the program.

As a result of being chosen Hilhi will be provided with a state of the art new weather station for free and be a featured weather data source for KOIN-TV which is also part of the program.

For years Hilhi has been a part of the WeatherBug network and a reliable reporting station. The station will also remain as part of the WeatherBug network. Data is updated in real time and available at: Hilhi Weather Station

The new equipment is scheduled for installation by early October and will provide a greater depth of data including the ability to recall data from past dates.

The weather station is operated as part of the Hillsboro H.S. Science Dept. and is under the direction of Dr. Walt Hellman, a physics teacher at the school.
