Principal's Message
-
Dear Farmington View Families,
The staff at Farmington View and I would like to welcome you to the historic school year of 2020-2021. Never before has our district started the school year teaching 20,000 students through online methods. These are uncertain times with many unknowns. One thing you can be certain of and find comfort in, is that the staff at FVES will work hard to engage our students in our CDL format. While we would much prefer to be teaching students in person, we will strive to make distance learning successful for each learner. We are committed to our own learning throughout this year, in order to improve delivery methods and overcome many of the challenges that distance learning inherently provides.
We will all be learning and adjusting to this new format. I encourage you to touch base frequently with people you know in the community that also have students navigating the CDL format. Using each other for support, tips or strategies to help our students perservere through online distance learning will be key. Keeping in frequent contact with your child's teacher will also provide support. I will also send out a Weekly Update with tips and information every Friday afternoon that you might find useful.
People often ask me when we think kids will be allowed to come back to school in some form this year. I do not know the answer to this question because it depends on decisions by our Governor's Office and the Oregon Healthy Authority. I am however grateful to live in a time where we have the technology and resources to still connect and learn together. Thank you in advanced for your efforts to help your child get the most out of this year. It will be a team effort for sure!
Go Bobcats,
Mr. Petrick
