Scope of Work
Please note that project costs and schedules may fluctuate due to cost of materials and labor, conditions at the site, unforeseen and/or revised scope, and other factors. Projected budget: $6.3 million.
- Street Improvements
Over winter 2022, improvements were made to Southview Street adjacent to the new bus dropoff entrance, including new sidewalk and paving. These are required by our land use permit with Washington County as a condition for the campus renovations. A new, automated, rolling entry gate was also installed at the driveway entrance to limit entry into the bus dropoff area.
Trees, plants and hydroseeding were completed in fall 2021, during cooler months, in the front plaza and other renovated exterior areas.
- Campus Renovations
Over summer 2021, the Butternut Creek campus underwent several renovations that included: safety and seismic upgrades, parent/bus dropoff improvements, addition of air conditioning to the HVAC system, and a new entry plaza. The portables were replaced with a permanent, modular building housing two classrooms. The entry vestibule was renovated to upgrade security and limit visitor access into the building.
Due to supply chain issues, the new elevator installation was delayed to fall 2021. The elevator now provides ADA access between the main floor and the cafeteria. The shaft itself was previously completed in the summer.
- Domestic Water Pipe Replacement
In summer 2020, new domestic water pipe was installed throughout the Butternut Creek building to replace aging pipe.
- New Playground
Butternut Creek had a new playground installed in summer 2018. The play structure includes eight swings and ground-floor activities that are ADA-accessible. It is installed on a safer, padded tile surface (replacing the existing wood chips). Students also have a 1500 square-foot artificial turf playspace that can be used rain or shine.
- Flexible Furniture
Flexible furniture (FFE) was delivered in summer 2018. Research shows this type of furniture enhances the learning environment and increases student engagement.
