Dear Indian Hills Staff and Families,

Recently, as part of routine environmental testing, all of the faucets, fountains, and other water sources at our school were tested for the presence of lead.

We just received the results and learned that fourteen water sources tested above the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended action level of 15 parts per billion (ppb):

    • Room 6 drinking fountain - 29.7 ppb
    • Room 7 drinking fountain - 25.3 ppb
    • Room 8 drinking fountain - 18.6 ppb
    • Room 11 classroom faucet - 15.8 ppb
    • Room 12 drinking fountain - 15.6 ppb
    • Room 13 drinking fountain - 34.5 ppb
    • Room 14 drinking fountain - 43.1 ppb
    • Room 15 drinking fountain - 17.3 ppb
    • Room 15 classroom faucet - 35.2 ppb
    • Room 16 classroom faucet - 20.1 ppb
    • Room 19 drinking fountain - 24.0 ppb
    • Room 19 classroom faucet - 36.7 ppb
    • Room 20 classroom faucet - 15.4 ppb
    • Kitchen, pot filler faucet - 401 ppb

Our drinking fountains were already shut off because of COVID, but the other water sources have either been turned off or have signage placed on them that indicate they can be used for handwashing only. The fixtures will remain unavailable or restricted in their usage until they can be replaced. Once new fixtures are installed, they will be re-tested for the presence of lead and will only be placed back in service once the lead levels are below 15 ppb.

Please refer to this document for additional information about lead content in water.

We take everyone’s safety and health very seriously and appreciate the opportunity to work swiftly in collaboration with Facilities and PBS Environmental Engineering consultants to address this issue.

    Sincerely,

    Deborah Hunt

    Dear Imlay Staff and Families,

Recently, as part of routine environmental testing, all of the faucets, fountains, and other water sources at our school were tested for the presence of lead.

We just received the results and learned that ten water sources tested above the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended action level of 15 parts per billion (ppb):

    • Room 102 drinking fountain - 34.2 ppb
    • Room 104 drinking fountain - 23.3 ppb
    • Room 107 drinking fountain - 212 ppb
    • Room 108 drinking fountain - 25.5 ppb
    • Room 110 drinking fountain - 16.5 ppb
    • Room 111 drinking fountain - 17.2 ppb
    • Kitchen, wand faucet at floor mixer - 20.1 ppb
    • Kitchen, pot filler faucet - 50.0 ppb

Our drinking fountains were already shut off because of COVID, and the other water sources were turned off immediately upon receiving the over-limit results. The fixtures will remain unavailable until they can be replaced. Once new fixtures are installed, they will be re-tested for the presence of lead and will only be placed back in service once the lead levels are below 15 ppb.

Please refer to this document for additional information about lead content in water.

Principal's Message

  • Jennifer McCalley

    Dear Imlay families,

I hope you all are enjoying the sunshine with your family and taking much needed time to rest and rejuvenate after a difficult and challenging 2020-21 school year.  I want to thank you again for partnering with our school team as we navigated distance learning, hybrid learning and the changing nature of the pandemic together.

In 2021-22, all schools in the Hillsboro School District are planning to operate in person five days a week, in what should feel like much more "normal" school year.  However, the final Ready Schools, Safe Learners (RSSL) guidance from the Oregon Department of Education will likely not be released until late July, so there are some specifics- such as mask-wearing, physical distancing, daily health check expectations, etc.- that are not yet known.  Therefore, I will be communicating with you again in August to share more details about our back-to-school plans and provide dates and times of important activities.

In the meantime, please visit the 2021-22 School Year page of the District website at http://www.hsd.k12.or.us/202122schoolyear often for all the latest updates. To ensure you are receiving updates directly from the District and our school, please make sure we have your current contact information.  Please check your ParentVUE account to update email addresses and phone numbers, or contact our office 503-844-1090 to update your mailing address.

Prior to the opening of school, parents/guardians of incoming 1st-12th graders are asked to visit the MyBus page of the District website, http://www.hsd.k12.or.us/mybus , for information about their student's eligibility for bus service and, if applicable, their assigned route.  Parents/guardians of incoming kindergartners will receive bus information through the mail.  Questions and inquiries should then be directed to Transportation Services at 503-844-1123.

I can't wait to see you all in person soon!

    Imlay Eagles

    Yours in Eagle Pride,

    Jen McCalley
