Principal's Message
-
Dear Tamarack Families,
My name is Christy Walters and, I am proud to say, I will be serving as the Principal of Tamarack Elementary in the coming 2023-2024 school year. I am eager to meet and get to know all of you. What a wonderful gift to have the opportunity to build a school community together. I look forward to hearing from each of you and learning about your hopes, dreams, and wants for Tamarack! I have been a principal for almost ten years in the Hillsboro School District as well as an instructional coach and reading specialist. My most important role is mom, to a HilHi Freshman who has traveled through our feeder. I love Hillsboro and to have the opportunity to create a space we share in its conception is pretty exciting. I am invested in our community and excited to see it grow.
Along with the staff, I will work hard to start a legacy of success at Tamarack by building strong relationships with families, students, staff, and community partners. I am excited to bring the partnerships I have already developed to Tamarack supporting high academic expectations with a focus on real world application. We will also co-create supportive classroom communities where our unique talents shine in a safe and caring environment. Student voice and choice are important to me and I look forward to developing an educational atmosphere that honors your child.
The diverse student population at Tamarack Elementary School provides everyone with an awareness and appreciation for all cultures. The Tamarack staff are passionate, dedicated educators who set high standards of achievement so our young scholars can be successful. We are determined to drive rigorous engagement in literacy, writing, math, and science, and provide individualized opportunities for student growth. To ensure this happens, we collaborate regularly around student learning, challenge one another, and seek to continuously improve in teaching and learning.
Thank you for trusting us with the education and caring development of your child. If you have questions or concerns that arise at any time, please do not hesitate to reach out via email: waltersc@hsd.k12.or.us until classrooms are established. Family support is a critical link to student achievement. We want to hear from you!
In partnership & service,
Christy Walters
Principal
