    Dear Minter Bridge Families,

I am writing to you today to share some news about your new principal.

I previously wrote to you on May 24 announcing that Robin Farup-Romero, principal of Reedville Elementary School, would be filling the vacancy left by Erika Pierce as she moved to Rosedale Elementary School. However, Ms. Farup-Romero subsequently pursued and was selected for an opportunity in Salem, where she worked prior to joining the Hillsboro School District. Not only was the position a good fit for her professionally, but she felt the move back to Salem - where she has an existing support system and connections to the community - would be good for her daughter.

Therefore, we renewed the search for a new principal and have selected Martha Rodriguez for the position, effective immediately.

Ms. Rodriguez was a dual language classroom teacher at Minter Bridge for six years before assuming her current role as an instructional coach at Eastwood Elementary School in 2016. As an instructional coach, Ms. Rodriguez collaborates with teachers on evidence-based practices and models lesson delivery. She also supports school-wide climate and culture efforts while integrating trauma-informed practices, and helps coordinate Right Brain programming.

For the past three summers, Ms. Rodriguez has served as the principal of the District’s summer school program, overseeing several hundred students spanning grades K-12. As principal, she creates the master schedule, coordinates special events, and develops and aligns curriculum, instruction and assessments, among many other duties.

Because of her deep experience with dual language delivery and proven instructional leadership, I am confident that Ms. Rodriguez will do an excellent job as your new principal.

Ms. Rodriguez is excited to return to Minter Bridge to reconnect with former colleagues, students and families, and also to meet and build relationships with those who have joined the school in her absence.

She will be sending a letter to families within the next few weeks to introduce herself and talk about important back-to-school activities.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Rodriguez on her new position and welcoming her back to the Minter Bridge family.

    Respectfully,

    Mike Scott
    Superintendent

    Atentamente,

    Mike Scott
    Superintendente
