Dear North Plains Elementary School Staff and Families,

As you know, Principal Becky Rios is retiring at the end of this school year and we have been seeking her replacement. Today, I am pleased to announce that Kellie Petrick has been selected for the position, effective July 1, 2021.

Ms. Petrick has held a number of positions in the Hillsboro School District over the past 17 years, including elementary classroom teacher, elementary math teacher on special assignment (TOSA), K-8 math specialist, and more. She is currently working as the District’s standards alignment and curriculum TOSA and has served as an administrator substitute since last fall.

A member of our Future Leaders program, Ms. Petrick has played an integral role in designing and facilitating the transition from Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) to the hybrid model this school year. She is also the lead for our Middle School Summer School and High School Summer Bridge programs.

Ms. Petrick is a servant leader with an uncompromising view that all students can learn in a positive environment that welcomes and fosters curiosity, agency, identity, and empowerment. She is a capacity builder who understands and can model highly effective instruction, and I am confident she will do a great job as the next principal of North Plains Elementary School.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Petrick and welcoming her to her new position.

To ensure this happens, we collaborate regularly around student learning, challenge one another, and seek continuous improvement in teaching and learning. We set high expectations for ourselves and our young scholars, and work together in the process of achieving those expectations.

Thank you for trusting us with the education and caring development of your child. If you have questions or concerns that arise at any time, please do not hesitate to give your child’s teacher or me a call. Family support is a critical link to student achievement. We want to hear from you!
