Principal's Message
-
Dear South Meadows Middle School families,
Welcome to the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year! We hope students finished the first semester as strongly as possible and are ready to keep that positive momentum moving forward into the new term.
We had several students doing their best to submit as much of their current and past work as possible. While this is encouraging, we know that we can continue to improve our efforts. A message that we will be communicating consistently at the beginning of the year for all students is that it is possible to be successful every day! We want to see the same energy and work ethic for the whole second semester that we saw during the last three weeks of the 1st semester. Our students are fantastic, hard-working, talented, and bright. We want to encourage that as much as possible and sooner in the term than later!
This is also the point in the year when changes begin to occur in our 7th and 8th grade classes respectively. Our 8th grade students begin to toe the line between being a middle school student for 5 months longer while having their eyes turned toward high school. These changes create feelings of excitement, optimism, uncertainty, and fear of the unknown. We will work with students and families to help maintain focus on completing their 8th grade year successfully while also supporting their and your transition to high school.
Our 7th grade students also begin to shift as they are becoming the leaders in our building as budding 8th graders. They are the group that next year will show our incoming 7th grade students what it means to be a Hawk of South Meadows. We know this group is ready for the responsibility and prepared to lead.
We are halfway through the school year. The days will move by quickly, and we hope our students savor every moment as they prepare for their next phases. We are proud of our Hawks and who they are each day.
Thank you,Chris Benz
