Principal's Message

  • We care about education and know that sometimes finding the right school for your student can be a challenge.  Should you be looking for a different educational option than you are currently enrolled in, I invite you to give us a look, Hillsboro Online Academy, located right here in Hillsboro.

We are much more than an online school.  We offer regular face to face sessions with Hillsboro teachers here on-site at our school located at 452 NE 3rd Avenue, near downtown Hillsboro, local bus and MAX lines.

Elementary students in grades 3-5 meet Monday’s from 9 to 11 for classroom enrichment activities plus an additional full hour of physical education.  Physical Education is offered for grades K-6 Monday through Thursday!

The same schedule is followed for 6th grade students on Tuesday mornings!  We also have a variety of clubs for students in grades 3-8 that meet every week. See below:

    • Wednesday Art Club and Running/Walking Club
    • Thursday Chess Club and Coding Club

Middle school students meet every Tuesday afternoon for 2 hours of classroom activities alternating between STEM, (Science and Math) and Humanities, (English and Social Science) plus a full hour of PE! Physical Education for middle school students is also offered Monday through Thursday!  We hold our PE classes either outside or in our on-site full-size 1948 gymnasium! We also offer online PE for grades 7-12.

High school students have access to rigorous online courses and in many situations are able to enroll in electives at their neighborhood high school…the best of both! Hillsboro Online does offer a full slate of online electives and all other courses for students to graduate with a Hillsboro diploma!

We are a flexible learning option built around input from our greater Hillsboro Community.  We invite you to come check us out! This month we are holding a couple Open House/Q&A sessions at school.  Feel free to come by, give us a call, or send me an email! See the back of this letter for details and contact information.

    Thank you,

    Linda Harrington, Principal
