Career-Technical Education Overview

  • Career-technical education (CTE) is no longer simply synonymous with wood shop or automotive technology. Those classes are still important and encompassed by the term, but today our definition includes a wide variety of disciplines that allow students to experience hands-on learning and acquire skills that are transferrable to a multitude of future jobs in technology, engineering, architecture, agriculture, culinary, and much more.

Thanks to a focused effort by HSD staff and partners from higher education, business, and the community, along with funding mechanisms like federal Perkins grants and the recently-passed Measure 98 legislation (CTE Expansion and Graduation Attainment), Hillsboro School District has more than doubled its CTE program offerings.

Linked below is a list of programs that are either currently offered in our high schools or will be implemented in the coming years.
