• The Hillsboro School District values and promotes the mission of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), which is to assist and support coaches in fostering a positive culture that not only creates winning teams, but also builds the skills, mindsets, and attributes of young athletes that will last long after the scoreboard is turned off. We train each of our high school coaches in PCA's methodology. Learn more at www.positivecoach.org.

Congratulations 2017-18 Positive Impact Coaches of the Year!

  • HSD coaches recognized at Hops game for positive coaching

The Hillsboro Hops joined the Hillsboro School District to recognize an exceptional coach from each high school. The coaches, Paul Lardy Liberty Lacrosse, Mason Wright Century Baseball, Jason Harless Glencoe Wrestling and Tim Kasper Hilhi Track were recognized by HOPS President KL Wombacher at the HOPS Youth Sports weekend on June 23rd. Of the four finalists, the HOPS selected Liberty’s Paul Lardy as the Positive Impact Coach of the Year. Coach Lardy is described by Liberty Athletic Director Alan Foster as someone who “brings the positivity everyday and is a portrait of professionalism.” Lacrosse athletes described Coach Lardy as someone who “really listens” and “challenges us to be better people.” Coach Lardy received a $1,000 check for his program while coaches Kasper, Harless and Wright each received $500 for their programs.

The four coaches were selected not only for establishing successful programs in terms of on field performance but for their efforts towards the more important goal of youth development and mentorship. The Hillsboro HOPS were excited to support the Hillsboro School Districts Positive Coaching Alliance mission. The Positive Coaching Alliance strives to focus on using athletics and activities as a youth development zone to promote positive life skills rather than a “win at all costs mentality”.  KL Wombacher, HOPS President, thanked the coaches for the immeasurable difference they make to our community and for their dedication to Hillsboro youth and Hillsboro schools.
