Dear Hillsboro Online Academy Staff and Community, 

It is with mixed emotions that I share my decision to retire as principal of HOA at the end of the 2022-23 school year. It is not easy to leave a place to which I am so devoted, but I believe our school is well prepared to transition to new leadership and seek new opportunities to serve our students.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve as principal here at HOA. I am so proud of what we have accomplished. Our HOA program is fully implemented in grades K-12. I have been fortunate to work beside our dedicated staff, and I admire their commitment to our students, our school, and our community. 

Our district is currently working to determine administrative staffing for the 2023-24 school year, and they will be seeking to fill other administrative positions in addition to the one here at HOA. Making my announcement at this time of year gives our district leadership ample time to make thoughtful staffing decisions. After the start of the new calendar year, you can expect opportunities to provide input about the characteristics you would like to see in your next principal.  

I have 45 years of experience as an educator, and I am ready to move into the next chapter of my life. I look forward to exploring new possibilities - including some travel, volunteering, and spending time with my family. Until then, I am fully committed to my work here at HOA  and am eager for what we will accomplish in the remainder of the school year.

While I am very excited about this new venture, I will miss being a part of this team and working with all the wonderful students, staff, and families at Hillsboro Online Academy. HOA students are amazing and I know they will continue to be in good hands, being supported and guided by an excellent staff and passionate families.

I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to lead this community and I know you will continue to accomplish great things.

Estimados miembros del personal y comunidad de Hillsboro Online Academy:

Es con emociones encontradas que les comparto mi decisión de jubilarme como directora de HOA al final del año escolar 2022-23. No es fácil dejar un lugar al que estoy tan dedicada, pero creo que nuestra escuela está bien preparada para una transición a nuevos líderes y buscar nuevas oportunidades para servir a nuestros estudiantes.

Ha sido un honor y un privilegio servir como directora aquí en HOA. Estoy muy orgullosa de lo que hemos logrado. Nuestro programa HOA está completamente implementado en los grados K-12. He tenido la suerte de trabajar junto a nuestros dedicados  miembros del personal y admiro su compromiso con nuestros estudiantes, nuestra escuela y nuestra comunidad.

Nuestro distrito está trabajando actualmente para determinar la dotación de personal administrativo para el año escolar 2023-24, y buscarán cubrir otros puestos administrativos además del que quedará vacante aquí en HOA. Hacer este anuncio en esta época del año le otorga a nuestro equipo de liderazgo del distrito tiempo suficiente para tomar decisiones pensadas cuidadosamente sobre la dotación de personal. Después del comienzo del nuevo año calendario, ustedes tendrán oportunidades para proporcionar su opinión sobre las características que les gustaría ver en nuestro próximo director.

Tengo 45 años de experiencia como educadora y estoy lista para comenzar el siguiente capítulo de mi vida. Espero explorar nuevas posibilidades, incluidos algunos viajes, voluntariado y pasar tiempo con mi familia. Hasta entonces, estoy totalmente comprometida con mi trabajo aquí en HOA y ansiosa por ver los logros que tendremos durante el resto del año escolar.

Si bien estoy muy emocionada con esta nueva etapa, extrañaré ser parte de este equipo y trabajar con todos los maravillosos estudiantes, miembros del personal y las familias de Hillsboro Online Academy. Los estudiantes de HOA son increíbles y sé que continuarán estando en buenas manos, siendo apoyados y guiados por personal excelente y familias comprometidas.

Siempre estaré agradecida por la oportunidad de liderar esta comunidad y sé que continuarán logrando grandes cosas.
