Overview
The Hillsboro School District is fortunate to have support of parents, community members, businesses and other organizations that bring additional opportunities and resources to our students through donations, partnerships, and volunteerism. In this section, we highlight current projects and requests, and provide additional information on how you can get involved.
Each year, the District, its schools, clubs, and sports teams receive hundreds of donations to support their operations.
Individual notes of thanks and acknowledgement* are prepared by the receiving group for the donor. (*Written acknowledgement is required for donations of $250 or more. See the IRS rules for substantiation and disclosure of charitable contributions in Publication 1771.)
In cases where the donation is $500 or more, either in money or goods, the District's Business Office will also prepare and send a written acknowelgement to the donor, and will forward information about the donation to the School Board for approval. Accepting Gifts and Donations is part of the Board's consent agenda. Information on donations received can be found by reviewing the minutes of prior Board meetings, available on the Board Meeting Agendas page.
Teacher-Designed Projects
A number of teachers across the Hillsboro School District have identified projects they'd like to implement with their classrooms. Find a list of these projects and donate to them online at www.donorschoose.org! Follow this link to get to the current list of Hillsboro School District projects; if that doesn't work, type 97124 into the zip code box on the DonorsChoose homepage, then select the state of Oregon and from there select Hillsboro School District. Selecting items in a different order sometimes doesn't result in the projects appearing, for some reason.
