AVID Tutors are knowledgeable about AVID and its mission, philosophy and methodologies so they can successfully fulfill their role.
AVID Tutors facilitate the tutorial process according to Tutorology guidelines, including challenging students to higher levels of thinking, organizing tutorial groups, and redirecting group members as necessary; tutors support transition to student-led study groups in AVID 12.
AVID Tutors demonstrate initiave by actively performing tasks and routines such as checking planners, binders, notes and TRFs.
AVID Tutors report to the AVID Elective class regularly, on time, and prepared to work; tutors act as role models for AVID students by staying engaged during class time.
AVID Tutors treat students, fellow tutors, teachers and other school personnel with respect.
AVID Tutors communicate clearly with AVID teachers, students and other tutors, both orally and in writing; tutors are willing to ask questions and provide constructive feedback to improve the quality of the AVID class.
Student Agency: SWBAT develop, demonstrate, and utilize academic, personal and/or professional skills to establish a strong community.
SWBAT use writing as a tool to communicate thoughts and ideas, demonstrate learning, and/or engage in the writing process in order to deepen understanding of content.
