Century High School Supports Nonprofits through Community 101 Program

Century High School's Civics and Community Services 1 class has been participating in the Oregon Community Foundation's Community 101 Program for over 20 years now. This year's class focused on the social problem of sexual assault and domestic violence. Students researched local non-profits that support the mission statement of addressing this issue and were able to award five organizations with a generous grant from the PGE foundation: $1500 was given to Bradley Angle to support basic needs for survivors; $1500 went to Rahab's Sisters to bring peer support and one-on-one assistance to survivors; $1000 was given to Raphael House to increase staff and support for emergency shelter and their 24 hour hotline;  $1000 went to Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon to support services for staff outreach; and $2500 was given to the Domestic Violence Resource Center to offset moving costs for survivors transitioning to independent living.
