Scope of Work

  • Please note that the preliminary site plan/design, project costs, and schedules may fluctuate due to cost of materials and labor, conditions at the site, unforeseen and/or revised scope, and other factors.

    2019-2020

    • Replacement of School

The new Brookwood Elementary School will replace the existing building by fall 2020. It will be an approximately 72,500 sq. ft., two-story building that can house up to 600 students. At nearly twice the size of the existing building, the new school will more readily accommodate the growing student enrollment in the community.

The current design has "learning streets" centered between classrooms, with coordinated colors to distinguish grade level areas. The gym and cafeteria are separate spaces, but can be combined as needed for large events. A STEAM lab and outdoor learning area promote inquisitive research. Natural lighting is a feature of the design and orientation of the building, which is sited behind the existing building.

In June 2019, construction will begin on the new building. Note that the existing kindergarten classrooms will be demolished at that time to form a safety corridor between construction and students. For the 2019-20 school year, the kindergartners will be accommodated within the main building and older children will be housed in the existing portables.

The existing building will be demolished in summer 2020 so that the rest of the site (parent/bus dropoff areas, playing field) can be developed in time for the start of the school year.
