Counseling
HSD School Counselors
School counselors are licensed educators focused on student success and achievement through the delivery of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program (CSCP), designed to provide services to all students. They serve as advocates for students and families, as well as promote a safe and welcoming school environment that focuses on equity, access and opportunity.
Using the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model, and the Oregon’s Framework for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, School Counselors focus on student growth in Academic, Personal/Social, Career and Community areas. They support students by promoting academic success, teaching interpersonal skills, and guiding post-secondary planning. They also consult with families, offer resources and referrals, and develop developmentally appropriate, data-driven programs tailored to the needs of their students and communities.
