    Dear Ladd Acres Families,

As you know, due to Francesca Sinapi’s selection as executive director of schools, we have been seeking a new principal for Ladd Acres. Today, I am pleased to announce that Jennifer Robbins has been chosen for the position, effective immediately.

For the past six years, Ms. Robbins has served as an instructional coach, teacher, site technology facilitator, and administrative substitute at McKinney Elementary School. She is a member of the teaching and learning leadership team and oversees Title I paraprofessionals. She also creates and supervises STEM after-school activities and is a very successful grant writer in support of those activities. In addition, Ms. Robbins has served as a Smarter Balanced (SBAC) scorer, item writer and reviewer for the Oregon Department of Education since 2017.

After beginning her career as an elementary classroom teacher in the Hillsboro and Beaverton School Districts, Ms. Robbins served as a Teacher on Special Assignment for HSD, focusing on math curriculum and research and development. In that role, she developed math curriculum and assessment resources for teachers and principals, and also co-facilitated the Math Adoption Study Team for middle school math curriculum. In April 2019, Ms. Robbins was honored with a Crystal Apple Excellence in Education award from the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. Equity-focused and dedicated to creating environments in which all students can succeed, I am confident she will do an excellent job as Ladd Acres’ new principal.

Ms. Robbins is very excited about getting started in her new role, and looks forward to meeting all Ladd Acres students and parents in the coming months. She will be sending a letter to families within the next few weeks to introduce herself and talk about important back-to-school activities.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Robbins on her new position and welcoming her to the Ladd Acres family.

    Respectfully,

    Mike Scott
    Superintendent

    Atentamente,

    Mike Scott,
    Superintendente

    Hello Ladd Acres Families,

It is with a great deal of mixed emotions that I write to you today to let you know that I will be leaving Ladd Acres Elementary School at the end of this school year to become the new Executive Director of Schools in the Hillsboro School District’s Office for School Performance. In my new role, I will have oversight responsibilities for many elementary schools.

It is never easy to leave a school community and Ladd Acres has been a very special place for me. It has been my privilege and honor to serve as your principal. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to lead our amazing school, while getting to know all of our Astros and our Astro families. We have accomplished great things together over the past six years, and the staff, students, and families have become like a second family to me. Even though this job represents an opportunity for me to serve our students in a new capacity, please know how much I will miss you all. As an educator for over 28 years, I am called to serve our students, staff, and community. Taking on this new role for the Hillsboro School District is a great honor and I know that the work I will do at district office will trickle back to Ladd Acres in a positive manner, for sure.

The District’s chief Human Resources officer, Kona Lew-Williams, will be meeting with staff and families on Thursday, February 21, to gather feedback on the qualities you’d like to see in your next principal prior to the posting and hiring process. The staff meeting will take place in the afternoon, and the parent meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in our school library.

Thank you so much for welcoming me, embracing me, and allowing me to learn and grow with you and your students. These past six years have been amazingly wonderful and I will always cherish my Astro years. I will miss you all and look forward to hearing about and seeing all of the continued hard work from our students, staff and community!

    With warm regards always,

    Francesca Sinapi
    Principal

    Francesca Sinapi
    Directora

The safety of our students is a top priority. Please refrain from bringing your dogs to dismissal and arrival areas. Students are often inclined to want to pet or quickly approach dogs which can result in injury. Thank you for understanding. It is appreciated.
