Attendance is one of the most critical aspects of being a successful student. It is important for parents to understand that when a student misses school, they are missing an opportunity that cannot be “made up”. Getting the assignment after the fact is important for the grade, but they miss out on the instruction, the ability to get assistance from an adult, and the opportunity to work with their peers. We want students here every day unless they are truly ill, (vomiting, fever), or there is another important reason for their absence. Everyone has appointments at times, but please try to schedule them after school, and if it is during the school day, please allow the student to attend school as much of the school day as possible. Our HSD motto is, “9 or less is best!” which equates to no more than one absence per month.
