The Jaguar logo has been placed in the center of Century's turf field. The Century teal was a color that required a special order and long lead time, but installation was just in time for the start of the new school year.

Century commemorated the opening of its new synthetic turf field and lights with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 1, 2019. The $2.63 million project allows for all-season and evening use, and fulfills the 2017 Bond's promise to replace an aging facility and provide an equitable environment for the Century community. Now, all high schools in the district have lighted turf fields. Speakers at the ceremony highlighted the impacts of the project on themselves and Century students. They also expressed their gratitude for the community's support and to the voters who approved the bond in November 2017.
Over spring break, crews cut into the synthetic turf and glued down the markings for various sports.

The foundation for the synthetic turf field, called the "e-layer," was completely installed on March 15. The e-layer is a poured-in-place, permeable padding that provides a seamless, consistent underlayment for synthetic turf.
On March 11, contractors started installing the e-layer base for the synthetic turf field. The e-layer comprises rubber granulate that is mixed with a polyurethane binder, then poured over the base gravel to form a padded foundation. The rolling machine on the right smooths out the material.
Equipment and materials stand ready to be placed on the Century turf field on March 8. Installation will resume once wintry weather is over.
On Feb. 25, snow blanketed the region, which postponed the continuation of the turf field installation at Century. The base gravel held enough heat to melt most of the snow, while the track and surrounding fields were covered in white. Work will resume when the weather forecast does not include snow or rain.

The gravel base has been laid. Crews are trenching and installing the bases for the light poles. Installation of the light poles is expected to occur on Friday, Feb. 1.
Rock base is brought to the site by truck, dumped, then spread over the special liner placed on the field. After the rock is graded, it is then compacted. Crews are also installing and connecting new under-field pipes that will help in draining stormwater from the synthetic turf field.
Cement amendment is being applied to stabilize the ground and provide a foundation for the new field. Next steps are the addition and grading of gravel and soil.
It looks like a muddy mess, but the ground is nearly ready for application of the cement amendment. Pending weather conditions, this work is expected to take place on Thursday, Jan. 10.
All the old natural grass has been removed, and crews continue with excavation work to prepare the ground for the synthetic turf.
Excavation prepares the ground for the different layers of amended soil and gravel that will underlie the new synthetic turf.
Excavation kicks off work on the synthetic turf field. The groundwork is slated to be completed before track season in spring, followed by installation of the turf.
Fencing has been erected to secure the staging area to prepare for construction of the new turf field. This is where equipment and materials will be placed. For your safety, please stay out of the staging and construction zones.

An informational neighborhood meeting was held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Century HS library to review the bond project for a new synthetic turf field with lights.
