  • Additions/Renovations

The Glencoe area is growing! Additions and renovations to the existing building (built in 1979) are expected to accommodate the projected enrollment growth, up to 400 more students. Construction took place over phases in 2019 and 2020.

A cafeteria addition adjacent to the existing cafeteria allows more space for students and takes advantage of natural lighting. The front of the school received a facelift to construct a more dramatic and welcoming entrance and commons area, and to create a secure entry vestibule. Counseling offices and health science classrooms occupy the first floor of a new wing and a new media center was added to the second floor.

Classroom spaces were renovated for several career-technical education programs. Both the north and south parking lots were reconfigured to improve safety as well as traffic flow and efficiency.

These were the first major renovations since 2000, with the media center/classroom wing and the second cafeteria area adding 30,500 square feet to the existing building. Groundbreaking for the project took place in June 2019; construction was completed in August 2020.

The Glencoe additions/renovations included:

Base building construction:

    • Improvements – general classrooms, science labs and prep room, health science classrooms/labs, etc.

    • Relocate band instrument storage to inside the building (adjacent to athletic director's office)
    • Replace auditorium chairs
    • Build covered bus waiting area
    • Safety and security upgrades – in addition to the renovated entry, measures include security cameras, card key access, strobes, and visual warning inside and outside the building (these are expected to be completed by October 2020, once all renovations are complete)

  • Glencoe Road Upgrades

Per City of Hillsboro requirements, half-street improvements were made on the school side of Glencoe Road between May to September 2020. These upgrades included:

Installed lights will enable the all-weather field to be used in the evening hours. View the project archive. This project was constructed in summer 2018.

  • DAS

A distributed antenna system (DAS) was installed to ensure that first responders can communicate between themselves throughout all areas of the building. This safety-related project incorporates cable and antennae that boost the radio signals on the first responders' operating frequencies. It was completed in summer 2018.
