COMPLETED

  • New Gym

A new gymnasium was completed in October 2021, allowing exclusive use for PE and activities, separate from the cafeteria. It will serve as a resource for Jackson students as well as community youth recreational volleyball and basketball. Built to "immediate occupancy" seismic standards, the gym can also be used as an emergency shelter by the community in case of a major earthquake.

  • Building Improvements

To further enhance safety and security, the Jackson building was renovated to install seismic improvements, security cameras, interior door locks, and alert/warning systems in summer 2021. The entry vestibule also was upgraded as part of these renovations. A single restroom was renovated to incorporate ADA-accessibility.

  • Parent/Bus Dropoff

Jackson's parking lots and parent/bus dropoffs were completely remodeled in summer 2019. The traffic pattern of the new dropoff areas separated personal vehicles from the buses, not only enhancing pedestrian and driver safety, but allowing for a smoother flow of traffic during dropoff and pickup times. This project was originally scheduled to be constructed in summer 2018; however, external delays required postponement to summer 2019.

  • DAS

A distributed antenna system (DAS) ensures that first responders can communicate between themselves throughout all areas of the building. This safety-related project incorporates cable and antennae that boost the radio signals on the first responders' operating frequencies. This project was completed in April 2019.

  • Flexible Furniture

In summer 2018, new flexible furniture (FFE) was delivered to Jackson classrooms. Research has shown that this type of furniture promotes engagement and learning.
