Principal's Message

  • Martha Guise

    Dear Century Families and students,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Century!

If you are interested and seeking involvement, Century has something for you! There are 1560 students enrolled as of today, and we welcome everyone to a great school year!

Our staff has been engaged in professional development and planning, preparing to engage and challenge our students and support them to success.  The positive energy in the building grows in August every year as teachers and students return, as fall practices begin, and leadership students decorate the halls to welcome back all students and staff.  This is even more true as we look at all the exciting improvements from the work on our CTE spaces. Things are really starting to take shape, and students are going to benefit from these great learning spaces. Additionally, we saw improvements in our baseball field, tennis courts and of course, our new turf field.  We are delighted to be starting the school year off with home football games on Century’s home field!

Century offers a variety of courses to prepare students to be college and career ready, able and prepared for whatever their future holds after high school.  In addition to being an AVID Site of Distinction for the third year, promoting college and career preparations for all students schoolwide, we offer a strong AP program, and have expanded our dual credit offerings to meet the demands of our community.  Our goal is that every student graduates having taken courses of rigor.. Our College and Career Pathways offer our students exploration of a career pathway that interests and engages them.

We also offer a strong system of supports to help students succeed in  their goalsA strong counseling program of comprehensive guidance, a team of grade level graduation coaches, our Student Support and Wellness Counselor, Options classroom, Brain lab (Wellness Center), and partnerships with Youth Contact and Americorps are designed  to support students with their academic, social and emotional needs during their high school journey.

Most important of all is our work with you as families. Our work together to help your students successfully navigate their high school experience is so important. It is truly a partnership. The entire staff of Century High School looks forward to serving you and supporting all our students to attain their goals and find success.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

    Martha Guise
