Featured Event: Bond-Funded Fiber Optic Network Project Begins

March 15, 2019 - One of the exciting projects made possible by the passage of the 2017 Bond is the installation of a fiber optic network that will enable the District to have internet self-sufficiency; fast, reliable access to digital curriculum and resources; and supporting infrastructure for security and telecommunications systems. The work is being done in partnership with the City of Hillsboro's Fiber to the Premise project that will serve residents and businesses within city limits. This collaboration streamlines the planning and implementation process for both organizations and represents strong financial stewardship of taxpayer dollars. The project officially commenced with directional boring and installation of conduit for the fiber optic cable at McKinney Elementary School on Thursday, Mar. 14. The first schools are expected to go live on District fiber in July 2019, and the remaining buildings will be completed by April 2020. The schedule and project updates will be posted to our bond website. Scroll down to see photos...
