December 13, 2021 - On Tuesday, Nov. 30, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce announced the HSD winners of its 2021 Manufacturing/STEM Scholarships:
- Lorelei Ruiz, junior at Glencoe High School
- Bridget Watts, junior at Hilhi
- Victor St. Claire-King, senior at Hilhi
- Richard Ramirez, sophomore at Hilhi
- Martin Johnson, senior at Liberty
- Tonya Rohwer, Grades 7 & 8 Math, Science, and Engineering teacher at Groner K-8
- Wayne Clift, Grades 9-12 Engineering teacher at Hilhi
Each winner received a $500 check to help them further their interest in STEM.
The scholarships were offered as part of the Chamber’s annual Manufacturing Month, held in October. Students and staff members who participated in Manufacturing Month activities were able to apply for the scholarship by creating a video, essay, slideshow, or poster describing what manufacturing and/or STEM means to them and their future, and what they would do with the award. Submissions were judged by a panel of volunteers from participating manufacturers.

El martes, 30 de noviembre, la Cámara de Comercio del Condado de Washington anunció a los ganadores de HSD de sus becas de Manufactura/STEM de 2021:
- Lorelei Ruiz, estudiante junior en Glencoe
- Bridget Watts, estudiante junior en Hilhi
- Victor St. Claire-King, estudiante senior en Hilhi
- Richard Ramirez, estudiante sophomore en Hilhi
- Martin Johnson, estudiante senior en Liberty
- Tonya Rohwer, maestra de Matemáticas, Ciencias e Ingeniería de los grados 7 y 8 en Groner K-8
- Wayne Clift, maestro de Ingeniería de los grados 9-12 en Hilhi
Cada ganador recibió un cheque de $500 para ayudarlos a fomentar su interés en STEM.
Las becas se ofrecieron como parte del Mes de la Manufactura, celebrado anualmente por la Cámara de Comercio del Condado de Washington y que se lleva a cabo en octubre. Los estudiantes y miembros del personal que participaron en las actividades del Mes de la Manufactura pudieron solicitar la beca creando un video, ensayo, presentación o rótulo describiendo lo que la manufactura o STEM significan para ellos y su futuro, y explicando lo que harían con el dinero del premio. Las propuestas fueron evaluadas por un panel de voluntarios de las empresas manufactureras participantes.
