David Vickery Selected as Hilhi Principal
April 19, 2018, Hillsboro, OR - Superintendent Scott announced today that Dave Vickery, currently an assistant principal at Glencoe High School, has been selected as the new principal of Hillsboro High School (Hilhi).
Hilhi’s current principal, Lou Bailey, announced earlier this spring that he was accepting the job of executive director of secondary programs for the Lake Oswego School District.
Having served as both dean of students and as an assistant principal, Vickery has a history with and deep affection for Hilhi. He states that this is his “dream job,” and that he is excited to partner with the staff to further strengthen instructional practices and build upon successful student outcomes.
Vickery’s educational career began ten years ago when he taught both general and special education at Cascade Jr. High School in Turner, OR. He moved to Hillsboro in 2010 and accepted at job at South Meadows Middle School as a special education teacher and PBIS coordinator. In the 2013-14 school year, Vickery served as the dean of students at Hilhi, and for the following two years he was one of the school’s two assistant principals. Since 2016, Vickery has been an assistant principal at Glencoe High School.
“Dave is an equity-minded and collaborative leader who is committed to continual improvement,” notes Scott. “He has worked on systems and structures to enhance communication and programs for the betterment of students and staff. I am confident he will do an excellent job as principal of Hilhi.”
Vickery officially assumes his new position on July 1, 2018.
