Dedication of New Atfalati Ridge Elementary School

Hillsboro School District officially dedicates the latest new school to be built in the District since 2009, and the first new school in North Plains since 1954, followed by a community walk-through tour

August 27, 2020, Hillsboro, OR - a ceremony will be held to officially dedicate and open Atfalati Ridge Elementary, the 28th elementary school in the Hillsboro School District.

Made possible by the 2017 Hillsboro School District Bond, this $37 million campus joins the existing North Plains Elementary School in serving the North Plains community. Atfalati Ridge Elementary has capacity for up to 600 students in the approximately 73,700 square-foot building. The school mascot is the blue jay. More information about the school can be found at hsd.k12.or.us/atfalati.

Special features will include graphic quotes and artwork throughout the building that honor the Indigenous people the school was named after. Students can utilize learning areas, a glass-enclosed think tank, and a STEM lab as spaces outside the classroom for educational inquiry and groupwork. A lighted, synthetic turf field, ADA-accessible playground, covered play area, and gymnasium provide physical education and recreational opportunities for youth.

The media is invited to this community celebration. Masks will be required on campus.
