Vehicle Idling Reduction

November 5, 2018 - At the end of September, the School Board adopted a new policy and guidelines around the reduction of vehicle and equipment idling time on district property. The policy is meant to not only reduce carbon emissions and improve health and safety, but also to enhance fuel efficiency and engine life. Buses are encouraged to limit idling to no more than 10 minutes during warm-up and when the vehicle is being restarted after a prolonged period of shutdown, and to no more than 5 minutes during dismissal. Exceptions are granted for severe weather conditions. Community members are also encouraged to refrain from idling their vehicles on District property.
