Glencoe Theatre Presents: A Good Farmer
November 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16, 7:30 pm at Glencoe High School
October 23, 2019 - In this impactful drama infused with wit and humor, playwright Sharyn Rothstein explores the lives of Bonnie Johnson and Carla Gutierrez – two women whose worlds are forever linked by circumstance, need, and a cabbage farm. Inspired by a New York Times article about undocumented immigrants in a small town, A Good Farmer looks at survival, fear, and lives forever changed by a divided America. Shows are at 7:30 pm. Tickets bought in advance are $7, at the door $10. All tickets are $7 on Thursday night. Recommended for ages 13+ due to the serious subject of the show.
Glencoe High School Theatre is proud to present the West coast premiere of this newly published show originally written about ICE raids in upstate New York in 2006. Its subject – deportations and the families impacted – reflects struggles in our community today and puts a human face to those struggles. From the immigrant to the farmer to the out-of-work single father, A Good Farmer speaks to many points of view and forces the audience to consider the lives and worlds of all of them.
