Hillsboro Girls Water Polo Places Third in State
December 9, 2019 - Congratulations to the Hillsboro Girls Water Polo team for their second consecutive 3rd place win at the 2019 Oregon High School Water Polo Championships held in Corvallis on November 15 and 16. Coaches Cam Clitheroe, Larry Dickenson, and Crystal Kociemba led the girls through a great season and a fierce final match where they bested Ashland 5-4 for the 3rd place finish.
Individual All-State honors were awarded to Arwen Nielsen and Maya French – 1st Team; Kennedy Godfrey and Sydney Lierman (Goalie) – 2nd Team; and Rachel Loberger – Honorable Mention.
Hillsboro High School hosts the girls and boys Water Polo teams and generates most of the teams’ membership, but players also join from Liberty, Glencoe, Century, and Hillsboro Online Academy.
Individual All-State honors were awarded to Hillsboro Boys Water Polo team members Jack Schaber – 1st Team; Nick Kociemba – 2nd Team; and Devon Dodge and Jesse Hendren (Goalie) – Honorable Mention. Great job, boys!
Congratulations again to the Hillsboro Girls Water Polo Team for defending their 3rd place title at the 4A/5A State Championships and thank you to the coaches, volunteers, and families who supported the team throughout the season!
