June 24, 2020 - Century High School’s Civics and Community Services classes have participated in the Community 101 program for a number of years. The Oregon Community Foundation, along with the Hillsboro Schools Foundation, connects schools with funders – in Century’s case, Juan Young Trust – that provide $5,000 for students to research a chosen social problem, the nonprofits in our area that address that problem, and ultimately to award selected nonprofits with funds to benefit their programs. This year, classes chose to address mental health. Their awardees included NAMI, Unity Behavioral Health Center, North Star Clubhouse, and the Returning Veterans Project. See the video below of their virtual awards ceremony.
