Bridget Watts: Hilhi Rotary Student of The Month
November 30, 2022 - Congratulations are in order for Hillsboro High senior Bridget Watts who is Hillsboro Rotary Student of the Month. Bridget received her award certificate accompanied by her proud health sciences CTE teacher Kori Sakamoto. Among her many accomplishments, Bridget is a varsity athlete in cross country and distance running. Enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program at Hilhi, Bridget is a member of the Key Club and has volunteered for causes throughout Hilhi and the City of Hillsboro. Her ambitious, creative, thoughtful, and open-minded friends were most important to Bridget during her time at school. Freshman year, Bridget became a part of the International Cuisine Culinary club and took honors classes. Interrupted by the global pandemic, she ended up finishing her year online and attended Hillsboro Online Academy the following year. It was a difficult time as she was new to Hillsboro and felt socially isolated. After transferring to Hillsboro High School, she found the culturally diverse and inclusive environment motivated her to resume in-person activities. Bridget was the leader of seniors who put on dances for Link Crew where seniors accompany freshmen, though their first day of school and the Homecoming Dance, which had 700 students in attendance this year. Bridget assisted in hosting assemblies, helped organize school pride spirit weeks, a club kick-off, club fundraising and the school play, 12 Angry Jurors. The Key Club is helping at “Snow-Much-Fun” at the Jerry Willey Plaza in Orenco Station this holiday. Bridget plans to attend UC San Diego to study mechanical or chemical engineering, study abroad, and become an engineer. We wish Bridget much success in all her endeavors!
