March 14, 2023 - Congratulations Jaydra Ariahna Pettingill from Glencoe High School who is Hillsboro Rotary Student of The Month. Jaydra was accompanied by boyfriend Nick Lermon, and English teacher Sarah Armitage. Jaydra is president of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance, vice president of the National Honors Society, and communications director of the Crimson Closet (clothing and food pantry). They have social anxiety disorder, also known as social phobia, and with help, has become a leader in the community. They feel it's important that people share mental problems to de-stigmatize getting help. Jaydra strives to make people feel loved and cared for by hosting weekly GSA meetings, and providing educational resources for students, staff and families on how to best support people in the LGBTQ+ community. They plan to attend Linfield University to study psychology for the purpose of therapeutic research. Congratulations, and all the best to Jaydra Ariahna!
