February is CTE Month
February 8, 2019 - February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month - a public awareness campaign taking place across the country to celebrate the value of CTE in preparing students for high-wage, high-demand careers.
Career and Technical Education covers many different fields, including healthcare, information technology, advanced manufacturing, and many more. It also encompasses different types of education, from classroom learning to certification programs to work-based learning opportunities outside the classroom. All of these experiences serve to prepare and strengthen our students’ readiness for transitioning to careers and/or college after graduation.
In HSD, we have 31 Career and Technical Education programs in our high schools and we are continuing to grow program offerings. This year, we began new programs of study in construction technology, sustainable agriculture, and sustainable design. We also have after-school CTE exploration opportunities offered to students at all four middle schools.
Thank you to all of our HSD staff, community members, businesses, and non-profit organizations who support our CTE programs. Let’s celebrate today that, together, we are growing the workforce and community members of tomorrow!
