Maintaining an Appropriate Online Presence

Maintaining an Appropriate Online Presence
September 7, 2020 - As we prepare for a fully online experience throughout the fall, staff are reminded about the importance of appropriate clothing and video backgrounds, as well as restrictions on political activities for public employees.

While our work locations may have changed, the expectation for maintaining an appropriate and professional appearance have not. Please do not wear anything while teaching an online lesson that you would not wear to the school building. This includes hats, sunglasses, or other items that would not typically be allowed unless you were having a spirit day.

Please also ensure that the space behind you is free from images or items that would not be appropriate for students to see. A neutral or education-friendly background is best!

Finally, as we approach the presidential election, please review the restrictions on political activities for public employees. Here is a link to the quick guide, and here is a link to the full document. If you have questions about whether or not something is allowable, please reference these documents first; if you still have questions, please speak with your principal or contact Chief Communications Officer Beth Graser at graserbe@hsd.k12.or.us or x2772.
