ShakeAlert Webinar for Schools
February 1, 2021 - The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), University of Oregon, and the Oregon Department of Emergency Management, is helping spread the word about ShakeAlert, the Earthquake Early Warning system for the Pacific Northwest, which will become available through the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system on March 11 of this year.
Oregon Office of Emergency Management is hosting a series of free, one hour webinars to inform various Oregon stakeholders about ShakeAlert. The webinar for educators and school personnel is 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3.
This webinar will cover:
- What is ShakeAlert and how can it be utilized in schools, museums, and other education spaces to support emergency preparedness?
- Communication resources that you can use to talk with your communities about ShakeAlert.
- Education resources you can use to teach about ShakeAlert specifically and earthquake science generally.
