Equity in Mathematics Summer Institutes

Equity in Mathematics Summer Institutes
K-5 Educators and Instructional Leaders from HSD and other local school districts are invited to apply to participate in one of two 24-hour virtual professional development institutes this summer that will provide them with an opportunity to examine inclusive, culturally-responsive practices in math teaching.

Each educator who completes the course will:

  • Receive a $1000 stipend,
  • Have access to no-cost professional learning to research instructional strategies to "rehumanize” mathematics,
  • Collaboratively design and walk away with STEM, math focused lessons for the classroom, and
  • Earn 24 PDUs (college credit cannot be given).

Institute Dates:

  • June 23-24: 3-hour Synchronous (Zoom) Workshops (K-2 & 3-5) to launch the learning
  • July: 15 Hours of asynchronous learning & reflection for teachers and instructional teams supported by a team of facilitators
  • August 6: 3-hour Synchronous (Zoom) Workshop to conclude the learning.

Highest priority will be given to school-based teams from schools serving culturally-diverse  and/or under-resourced communities.
