James Leslie |
He is one of the most friendly and caring people I have ever met. |
Ko Kagawa |
While this staff member was originally the dean of students when I had my first encounter with him, he has actually become the vice principal of the school now. During the 2021-2022 school year inside the building after COVID, precautions were still rampant in the school to combat against COVID-19 and all possibilities of COVID-19. And I was the student who went against regulations (I did not wear a mask as was instructed heavily by the staff). One day, when I was not wearing my mask, a friend of mine sarcastically made a remark about me not wearing my mask, and Mr. Kagawa had overheard and asked to see me in his office. However, his approach as a staff member and mentor nearly changed my world. Instead of shaming me, cracking down on me or ridiculing me, he heard me out, made his suggestions, made his own voice clear and what the school policies were, but also understood me and made a connection with me. He got to know me, and was overall extremely friendly and cooperative. This left me with a remarkable impression of the man, and a deep sense of respect for him as a person and a staff member that I won't forget for a long time. |
Ko Kagawa |
He stayed with me for almost 4 hours when i cut my thumb down to the bone at school |

She pulls together big school events constantly and is the reason we are able to have things like dances and assemblies, but she basically chose stress as a job. She handles it amazingly though and always works so hard to give us the best high school experience and create a loving and welcoming environment. Even when she's busy she always makes time for one-on-one talks with a student who may not be doing well and she gives the best hugs. He is a teacher who genuinely loves his job and is very passionate about directing after school theater shows. He is someone who wants feedback to improve and respects student’s boundaries. He helps students improve in class and develop many important skills like self evaluation and supporting and respecting peers along with what they learn in classes. He is a genuinely silly and endearing guy who wants the best for his students. I feel incredibly safe with this teacher, he is supportive and very emotionally intelligent and understanding which is something a lot of other teachers don’t have. He will step in and shut down possibly negative jokes or comments because he is dedicated to making the DM atmosphere the best it can be. |
Joshua Pounders & Graciela Garcia |
Mr. Pounders does his best to provide a fun musical experience for all students while aiding in pursuits for musical careers and opportunities. He cares about each student and does his best to make the choir room a safe, welcoming, and hilarious space. Mrs. Garcia is such a fun and understanding teacher, she makes sure each student understands the subjects of the classes, creates enjoyable projects for students to showcase their understanding of the work, and is one of the few teachers i have seen that understand how to adjust subject materials and reexplain to make sure a student understands and retains materials.
