HSD’s 2024-25 Resource Conservation Challenge is now open!
This is a friendly competition among all HSD schools that runs from February 5 through May 8.
The mission: To boost awareness about our natural resources and climate change, and to adopt conservation practices as responsible stewards of our district and our planet.
The incentive: A $500 cash award to one school in each feeder group that demonstrates the most effective conservation practices within their building. There are many opportunities to demonstrate how staff and students are practicing conservation in their daily routines! Rules, FAQs, and instructions will be posted in the Google Classroom.
The Google Classroom: The Google Classroom is a resource of inspiration if needed. There are no grades, but there may be 'assignments' that will assist in tracking projects. Occasionally, new announcements and materials will be added. Participation is 100% voluntary! The Google Classroom is also not necessary for participation in the challenge. All conservation practices are encouraged and will ultimately result in benefits to our environment.
THE WIN! Saving resources! Saving money! Saving the planet! Our schools are already working on conservation projects - why not do even more and be recognized for it?!
This challenge also includes an array of materials and inspiration for honoring Earth Day. Teachers - please consider becoming a 'student' of the Google Classroom and taking advantage of these resources!
Questions? Contact Resource Conservation Manager Mia Hocking (503-844-1324).
