2024 Classified Bargaining Briefs
On Tuesday, January 30, 2024 the Hillsboro School District began contract negotiations with Hillsboro Classified United, and will be meeting in full-day bargaining sessions one to two times per month until an agreement is reached. Our goal is to establish a collaborative process that will allow us to settle on a contract that is beneficial to students and staff, and that is fiscally responsible for our community.

HSD and Hillsboro Classified United Reach Tentative Agreement
After more than a year of negotiations, HSD and Hillsboro Classified United reached tentative agreement on all articles of a successor contract at their bargaining session on Tuesday, March 4. HCU will now hold a general session of their membership on Thursday, March 13 to review the agreement, and will allow voting all day on Friday, March 14 in hopes of reaching ratification. The final step will be approval by the Board of Directors.
Once the Board has approved the agreement, the new contract would go into effect immediately and will run through June 30, 2027. The general salary increase (formerly known as a cost of living increase, or COLA) will be applied retroactively to the first day of their 2024-25 work year and will be reflected in the April 2025 payroll.
Agreed-upon financials are as follows:

- A.2 & 3 - Proposed additional language regarding safety and the establishment of a review committee to develop solutions.

At the end of this period, they may need to meet current qualifications for their position.
- F - Proposed for the Union president to have 5 minutes to introduce the Union during the all-staff kick-off meeting.
- L - A proposal was made to revert to the current language regarding the NEO process, to be addressed annually through Labor Management.
