David Shuman worked as a substitute bus driver for HSD from February 26, 2024, until his death in early April 2026.
Betsy Biller spent her career in the Hillsboro School District as a teacher, activities director, junior high principal, communications director, and assistant superintendent. Over the course of her 30 years in HSD, she was a passionate advocate for students and the community she served. She died peacefully in her home on Sunday, March 8, after battling pancreatic cancer.

Rommel Dizon, Educational Technology Coordinator and Technology Support Specialist at Glencoe High School, was killed in a car accident on Monday, October 13, 2025. Former Teacher and coach Jeff Harris passed away on Wednesday September 24, at age 66. Jeff worked in the Hillsboro School District from 1989 to 2022. He taught Social Studies at Hillhi, J.B. Thomas, and South Meadows Middle School, coached freshman football at Hillhi, and served for many years as the building union representative. He retired for the first time in 2019 and then came out of retirement to sub and work part-time at South Meadows, retiring again for the final time in 2022. Jeff was the heart and soul of the staff at SMMS. He always had great stories to share and made everyone feel valued and welcomed. Jeff had a great sense of humor and always found fun ways to foster staff belonging. He was renowned for creating parody songs for staff members when they retired. His impact on students, staff, and the J.B. Thomas/South Meadows community will be felt for many years to come.
Claudette Jaggers, who went by Detta, started for Nutrition Services in September 2004 and retired in November 2019. During her 15 years in HSD, she mostly worked at Century High School and in the summer program. Always known as the "bird lady" to many, as she raised parrots and other birds. Detta was born November 8, 1945 and passed away on March 22, 2025 from lung cancer. Her service is on April 30 at 1:15 p.m.
